Fernando's home life was not a happy one. After the family moved to Lima, Fernando left the home at age 15, taking nothing with him but the clothes on his back. From that point on, he never accepted nor sought any assistance from his family. He got a job, rented a small room, and proceeded to define a life. In this photograph he is 18 years old, and is at the bar at the Hotel Bolivar in Lima.
