In the final year of his life, 2017, Fernando returned to the chemical darkroom after purchasing an 8x10" Svedovsky camera. Roberto Huarcaya, photographer and friend from Lima, visited Macon to photograph Fernando for his photogram project of portraits of artists. Fernando passed this camera along to Huarcaya during this visit, a few weeks prior to Fernando's death.
